Rude World is the home of rude-sounding place and street names from across The World. This project is motivated by a belief that these names have a cultural and sociological significance that is crucial to achieving understanding and harmony across The World.
But this will only happen if we can get beyond immature sniggering at names like Butthole Lane and Shitterton…
The World is now an interconnected place. However, although this could bring us all together, we live in an age when cultures are clashing and threatened by globalisation.
Rude-sounding names are of profound importance as they allow us to revel in The World’s richness and diversity. As we get beyond tittering at rude-sounding names, and come to take these places seriously, respect and awe at our common humanity will bind us together – speeding our progress towards lasting world peace.
To anyone who thinks that the world’s cultural richness is slipping away, go to Gobbler’s Knob and learn otherwise. We defy anyone to visit Windpassing, Bastardo and Slut, and say the richness is lost. By the time you reach Climax, you will be convinced.
